Hey - I've never listened to 10/29/77 in full before, but I thought I'd let you know that today's the day. I'll update you about my progress if you're interested. Might as Well and Jack Straw were great!

I'm envious! I can recall the thrill of listening to my favorite show with fresh ears and being blown away...I think you;re in for a treat!

The whole show really is phenomenal, but get ready for particular aural excitements in the 2nd set: The instrumental extended jam by Jerry in BERTHA...the mesmerizing ESTIMATED...and hold on to your hat when you get to EYES.

Also contains my favorite ST STEPHEN and SUGAR MAG...check out Mickey&Billy going bat shit at the end of the Mag and right before SSDD (you can hear Weir laughing if you listen real close).

I'll shut up now. Enjoy the show!!!!

Uh, it was outstanding. Can't say it held the same magic it obviously holds for you, but I can tell I'm going to be listening to it a lot in the future.

One thing I loved about the Eyes of the World was that it wasn't ridiculously fast like so many others around this time - it retains a lot of the breezy, jazzy feel from '73-'74 that I felt it lost later on. Also, Jerry's soloing is at least a few notches above his usual brilliance on this and many other tracks (Bertha, Let It Grow, Not Fade Away...)

Thanks!

My thoughts exactly on why I love that Eyes!
